How do I enable Java and JavaScript in my web browser?

Please follow the instructions below that correspond to the browser you are using.

Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer and click Tools > Internet Options

  2. From the Internet Options window, select the Advanced tab.

  3. Scroll down the list to Java(Sun) heading and make sure that Java is selected/checked.
    Note: If you do not see Java(Sun), go Sun's Java website at www.java.com, download and install the Free Java plug-in.

  4. Continue to scroll down the list to the Security heading and make sure the box beside Allow active content to run in files on My Computer is selected/checked

  5. Click on Apply.
  6. Select the Security tab.

  7. Click Custom Level.

  8. Scroll down to the Scripting heading.

  9. Under Active Scripting select Enable.

  10. Under Scripting of Java Applets select Enable.

  11. Click OK

  12. That's it!

Firefox

To enable or disable Java in Firefox

  1. In Firefox, from the Tools menu, select Add-ons.
    Note: If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible.
  2. In the Add-ons Manager tab, on the left select Plugins.
  3. Select Java(TM) Platform, and then click either Activate, Never Activate or Always Activate 
    Note: In older Firefox versions, click on the Enable button (if the button says Disable, Java is already enabled).

How to enable or disable JavaScript in Firefox

  1. In the address bar, type about:config and press Enter.
  2. Click "I'll be careful, I promise" if a warning message appears.
  3. In the search box, search for javascript.enabled
  4. Toggle the "javascript.enabled" preference (right-click and select "Toggle" or double-click the preference) to change the value from "false" to "true".
  5. Click on the "Reload current page" button of the web browser to refresh the page.

 Safari

  1. Open Safari and click Safari > Preferences (Edit > Preferences in Windows)
  2. Select the Security icon/tab at the top on the window.
  3. Beside the Web content heading, be check each of the boxes for Enable plug-ins, Enable Java, and Enable JavaScript
  4. Close the window to save your changes.

Google Chrome

How to enable or disable JavaScript in Firefox

  1. Select Customize and control Google Chrome (the icon with 3 stacked horizontal lines) to the right of the address bar.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Settings.
  3. At the bottom of the page, click Show advanced settings.
  4. Under Privacy, select the Content settings button.
  5. Finally, under the JavaScript heading, select the Allow all sites to run JavaScript radio button.
